Cultural exchange
Au Pair in Germany
Live with a German host family, help with the children and the daily routine of the home, and learn the language from inside a household rather than a classroom.
What the programme is
A place in a family, not a post in a company
An Au Pair stay in Germany is a cultural exchange. The young person becomes part of a household for a defined period, helps with childcare and light household tasks on an agreed schedule, receives board, lodging and pocket money, and attends a language course.
It is not ordinary employment, and the difference is not merely legal. Living inside a family means the fit between the person and the household matters more than any qualification on paper.
Germany has a long-established framework for these stays, with clear expectations about hours, free time, the language course and insurance — the reason it remains one of the most reliable destinations for a first international experience.

How we work on it
What we coordinate and what we cannot promise
We assess the profile against the programme requirements, prepare the application dossier, coordinate the presentation to families and accompany the documentation and the visa file where one is needed.
What we cannot do is guarantee a host family, a visa, a placement or a travel date. A family chooses the person as much as the person chooses the family, and the immigration decision belongs to the competent authorities.
An Au Pair placement is a cultural exchange programme, not ordinary employment. We cannot guarantee a host family, a visa, a placement or a travel date: each programme depends on eligibility, documentation, the host family and the decision of the competent authorities. Participation in the United States is subject to an authorised sponsor, a host family, eligibility, documentation, an interview and the corresponding visa.
A country appearing on this website does not mean that a job offer, a study place or an open intake exists. Every opportunity is subject to availability, requirements, selection, admission, contract and immigration authorization.
Questions
Au Pair in Germany — questions
Is an Au Pair stay a job?
No. It is a cultural exchange programme with its own framework: help with the children in return for board, lodging, pocket money and a language course. It is not ordinary employment and should not be planned as a way of earning a salary abroad.
Do I need to speak German?
A basic level is generally required, because it is what makes daily life in the household work from the first week. The language course during the stay is there to build on it, not to replace it.
How long does it take to find a family?
There is no fixed period, and anyone who quotes one is guessing. It depends on the profile, the languages, the experience with children, the flexibility on dates and region, and on the families looking at that moment. We do not promise a placement or a date.
