Work in Slovakia

An industrial economy built around automotive manufacturing, engineering and logistics, where demand concentrates on qualified production and maintenance profiles.

The market

Manufacturing at the centre of the labour market

Slovakia has one of the highest concentrations of vehicle production per capita in Europe, and the supplier network around it drives demand for welders, machine operators, maintenance technicians and logistics staff.

For EU nationals, mobility is straightforward and the practical questions are about recognition of qualifications, language and accommodation. For third-country nationals, work is tied to an authorization linked to a specific employer, and the timeline is set by the Slovak authorities.

We are currently assessing projects in this market. Profiles registered now are analysed against the requirements of the sectors below, so that a confirmed process can move without a standing start.

Requirements

What the route generally requires

Requirements differ substantially between EU and non-EU nationals, and the second group is where planning matters. An authorization tied to an employer cannot be prepared until the employer, the contract and the conditions exist in final form.

The list below is general orientation, not a determination for an individual case. What applies to a specific person is confirmed by an authorised professional against the rules in force at the time of the application.

  • Valid passport or EU identity document
  • Professional qualifications, certificates and work history
  • A confirmed employment offer where the route requires one
  • Work authorization linked to the employer, for third-country nationals
  • The visa or residence permit determined by the Slovak authorities
  • Language level appropriate to the role and the shift

A country appearing on this website does not mean that a job offer, a study place or an open intake exists. Every opportunity is subject to availability, requirements, selection, admission, contract and immigration authorization.

Arlen Global Mobility coordinates the preparation and follow-up of these processes. Legal services and other regulated activities are provided by duly authorised independent professionals or providers. The granting of visas, permits and authorisations depends exclusively on the competent authorities.

Questions

Working in Slovakia — questions

Is there an open intake for Slovakia right now?

No. This market is under evaluation, which means we are studying projects and registering profiles. We only announce an intake once the employer, the contract, the salary, the conditions and the immigration procedure are confirmed.

Do I need to speak Slovak?

It depends on the role. Production and technical positions in international plants often operate in English or in the language of the parent company, while roles with customer contact or safety-critical communication may require Slovak. The requirement is set by the employer.

Can my family come with me?

Family mobility depends on the category of permit held, its duration and the conditions attached to it. It is assessed separately from the work route, and we coordinate it with an authorised professional once the main permit situation is clear.
